Operating System Version Upgrade This option installs an "upgrade version" of an operating system (typically Windows/XP, Vista, or Windows 7) and replaces an existing installation (typically Windows/95/98/Me/2000/XP/Vista). NOTE: Windows 7 Upgrade is only possible from Vista. If your system is Windows/XP, a fresh install of Windows 7 is required. We don't consider the Windows 7 Upgrade to be completely free of problems, however, and we recommend a fresh install of Windows 7 whenever possible. The current versions of your operating system, application software and hardware determine the steps we take to ensure a successful upgrade. For an upgrade to either edition of Windows/XP, for example, we pass along Microsoft's recommendations:
If there are software applications that you wish to migrate to Windows 7, we will advise you if they are considered compatible by Microsoft. If they're not, you should have them upgraded to a compatible version (usually, the latest version).
Plan on 2 to 6 hours for this service. [Due to its complexity, we recommend this upgrade be done for you in our lab.]
