Windows Registry Repair This option is used when the usual software repair tools are unable to correct a problem in the Registry. A common example is when an application program that was removed from the system is not removed from Control Panel's "Add or Remove Programs" listing. Another example might be when an unwanted program runs each time you start your system. (The list of examples is extensive.) Repairing the Registry has a primary goal of correcting the problems within it, of course. In cases where the symptoms are severe and acceptable system operation becomes an issue, the more-important secondary goal is to save the user from having to erase and reload his system. This is when repairing the Registry can be of immense value. Now that I've gotten your hopes up, be aware that there are instances, however rare, where the Registry can have so much damage that repairing it manually becomes unfeasible or impossible. In these instances, the only choice is to perform a fresh (erasing all data) install of the operating system and reinstall applications and backed-up user files. Plan on 1 to 12 hours for this. [Due to its potential complexity, we recommend this operation only be done in our lab.] |
