Virus Scan / Virus Removal - Standard

We scan your system for known viruses, and remove all of them.  The status of your system determines the particular method of scanning.

Keep in mind that some viruses are particularly harmful.  Depending on the virus identified by the scan, removing the virus is only a piece of the process; unrepairable software objects that have been damaged by the virus must be restored to return your system to correct operation.

The best, sure-fire method to rid your system of Viruses, Adware (and their damage) is to re-format and re-load your system.  The reason for this is because new viruses/adware are produced daily, and the changes made to your system by viruses or adware are often unknown and sometimes undetectable.  However, the re-load method may be too costly for you in terms of lost data and application software.  If this is the case, we can either save your application data prior to a re-load, or repair your system with no loss of applications or data.  If you require the repair option, you should know that this method can take many hours, and sometimes days, to complete.  Nevertheless, the repair option is always a viable solution.

[Note:  The presence of a virus on your system is usually due to the absence of effective anti-virus software.  We do not remove viruses from an internet-connected machine without installing a security software package of your choice.  We recommend ESET for its less-intrusive behavior, otherwise Norton (Symantec) Antivirus or Security Suite for most Windows/Vista/XP or Windows/2000 users (as of May 2006, we can't recommend McAfee software because of problems I've been experiencing).  If your PC uses Windows/98 or Windows/Me, we recommend ESET only (we find McAfee and Norton Antivirus to be too disruptive on these computers).  Available at http://www.eset.com]

Plan on 2-48 hours for this.
